It's Not Over Yet!
By Heather Cheuka (TX), 7/14/2006

Photo courtesy of Heather CheukaThis trip has completely changed my life. We did VBS at Inglesia Bethesda, and we also got to go to a migrant camp and an orphanage.

It is hard to explain all my feelings and everything that went on. When we would have morning services with the other participants and they would go up and tell everyone about the call they have received from God, I was like, "Wow! But I know what I am going to do. I've already planned it all out, and it fits perfectly!" Still, there was something inside of me that almost desired to have what those kids were saying. I kinda brushed it off, not really knowing what to do about it.

On the last day we were there, I was getting really discouraged. I felt like God had something for me, but I couldn't figure it out. My youth pastor said, "Heather, it's not over yet. Don't give up on God just because we are leaving." Those words stuck!

It was the night we came back into the States, and everyone was just hanging out. I talked to another person from our group about everything that we had just experienced, and all the things God has revealed to us. Everything seemed to just fall into place -- right there! I received a call on my life to go into missions. The more we kept talking, the more God kept confirming again and again that it was right.

I want to give a word of encouragement: just because the trip is over doesn't mean God is done. He most definitely wasn't done with me. I know that even after this trip -- and the many more that will come -- God will still continue to shape and mold us into that masterpiece he has designed for us to be.

Thanks for absolutely everything ya'll do to make these trips possible. I can't wait for the next one to come around!

Six Tough Guys and a New Yorker
By Jeffrey Schultz (NY), 7/14/2006

Photo courtesy of John GrenierJust being able to come here is a miracle. I live in New York with my mother and my brother. This is my second trip, and my brother is really excited about coming on his first mission trip next year! Last year, I relied on my family for much of the support. This year, my family has had its share of sickness, so my family didn't have a lot of resources to support me. But, God wanted me here, and he provided.

God has done so much in me recently, but what he did to me this summer, I'll never forget. Two years ago I was called into full-time ministry, but I didn't know where God wanted me or what I should do. Last year, on a Sun City Missions trip, God called me to Alaska. This year God not only reaffirmed it, he also used me in the most awesome way.

In Alaska, there were a few tough guys. These guys had been abandoned by the church's efforts. They had no hope -- they do now! Six of them accepted Christ as their Savior, as well as at least ten teenage girls. They awesome thing, though, was that these tough guys were pouring out their souls to God. Weeping, they didn't care who saw them; all they cared about was them and God. After the service, we discipled them and gave them New Testaments.

Thank you, Sun City Missions. You've changed my life and helped me to find God's call for my life. Thank you, also, for the excitement that my brother has now that he'll be able to go to Alaska next year and reach the lost.
